During the Shareholders’ Meeting, the issue of Final Fantasy 16’s poor stats in Japan expectedly arose. Questions about how the directors are thinking to manage the issue of aging customers came pretty early into the meeting. Director Kiryu responded saying, “…We would like to increase our reach to the younger generation and expand our fan base by strengthening our global publishing system.” He said the decision comes along with the determination of making great games as well.

Director Kiryu also said that Square Enix has a lot to offer to its fans and this also calls for strategic diversification. He said that a lot of Enix’s output appeal greatly to the younger generations. As a result, making emphasis on greater publishing options would be a sensible move.
