In a recent organizational meeting, it was highlighted that the customers of Square Enix are getting older. This raises concerns about decreased sales in the future. However, it may be that the folks in charge at Square Enix have something in mind to address the problem.

Square Enix is one of the biggest names when it comes to making time-tested video game franchises. Final Fantasy has been a fantastic performer in the market for nearly four decades. Fans have thousands of fond memories across the Final Fantasy series, and it is still one of the trendsetters in the industry.
Final Fantasy has done incredibly well received in the market post-release. However, despite the critic’s approval, its sales in Japan haven’t been impressive. This has made the directors land in a tough spot.
Deciding now about the future directions of the company may become crucial for survival. However, much tension wasn’t present at the 43rd Annual Shareholders’ Meeting as Kiryu, the Director, assured the questioners that the future is in safe hands. Global Publishing System is to be the focus for the coming days for Square Enix.
Global Publishing System to take the center stage for Square Enix
During the Shareholders’ Meeting, the issue of Final Fantasy 16’s poor stats in Japan expectedly arose. Questions about how the directors are thinking to manage the issue of aging customers came pretty early into the meeting. Director Kiryu responded saying, “…We would like to increase our reach to the younger generation and expand our fan base by strengthening our global publishing system.” He said the decision comes along with the determination of making great games as well.

Director Kiryu also said that Square Enix has a lot to offer to its fans and this also calls for strategic diversification. He said that a lot of Enix’s output appeal greatly to the younger generations. As a result, making emphasis on greater publishing options would be a sensible move. The meeting was concluded with the decision to elect 7 Directors for the Square Enix Holdings Co., LTD with Audit and Supervisory committees being formed.
