The first Avatar movie broke several records. It brought forth a world glamoured in mystery, with fans wanting to explore it for themselves. What better way to do so than to adapt it into an open-world experience in the form of a game? And who better to do so than a company like Ubisoft, one which created so many open worlds for gamers to explore?
The Ubisoft Forward event was among the look we got at Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. It seems Ubisoft managed to encapsulate everything a trip to Pandora entails in its reveal. The game features the vibrant environments of Pandora. Players can soar through the sky and ride on the ground. When gamers thought they had an idea of how the game will be, James Cameron, creator of Avatar, blew them out of the water.
Taking the opportunity to talk about the game, James Cameron opened up about the game during the event. He said, “We wanted the audience to feel as if they were really on Pandora, to dream away and explore this world. It has always been our vision to embrace technology to allow us to find new ways, outside of the cinema, to immerse people in this world.”
Cameron has undoubtedly set expectations high about how the game will be. The first and the second movie featured stunning visuals from the world of Pandora. Now, with its release in December, fans of the franchise can interact with it for themselves.
Fans react to first look at Frontiers of Pandora gameplay
The showcase event gave fans a first hint at what the game would play like. Ubisoft chose the first-person view, giving players control of a member of the Na’avi tribe, fighting against the RDA with their arsenal of tools. Fans of Ubisoft may already know how the first-person aspect handles if they played installments in the Far Cry franchise. The player has a range of tools at their disposal, with the classic bow to RDA rifles.

Moreover, the open-world experience will allow players to essentially become one with the world of Pandora. RDA bases can be cleared to restore Pandora’s nature, which gives players the chance to find ingredients that are part of recipes. These recipes in turn will boost the character’s ability.
