Ubisoft just finished their live stream event, Ubisoft Forward 2023, which showcased exciting news on upcoming games from them. The star of the show, however, was still their magnum opus, Assassin’s Creed. This series received multiple titles for mobile, VR, and PC releases lined up for the year. The much-awaited title Assassin’s Creed Mirage also got a gameplay walkthrough and story trailer of its own.
Interestingly, there was a unique mechanic shown during the gameplay walkthrough. This mechanic could turn out to be game-changing for the franchise if implemented properly. However, all this was based on the gameplay reveal. How overpowered the ability is will be determined once when the game comes out. The game comes out on October 12 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Ubisoft revealed a new ability for the players called the Assassin’s Focus. This new ability for Basim lets him quickly chain assassinations. It’s really a showcase of Basim’s incredible agility and mastery. In this technique, players have to enter the focus mode and target close enemies in a row. Players can cancel the whole chain or remove the target from a single enemy too. While this may seem like a handy ability, it cannot be spammed multiple times in the game.
The number of chain assassinations Basim can perform depends on how much his Focus gauge is filled. In the gameplay, a full gauge could carry out 3-4 assassinations in a row. And to fill this gauge, players need to carry out stealth missions through Basim.
But the implementation of this ability was top-tier from Ubisoft. They show Basim entering a state of pure focus and after confirming which enemies to kill, players can target them in the blink of an eye. Ubisoft has also put in some quick time-jumping animations that really make assassinations feel swift.
