There are certain games that one can’t get enough of and want to keep playing even after completing their entire quest. Well, Portal series falls under this category thanks to its unmatched popularity even after a decade of its first entry’s debut.
Now it seems like the game can also run on certain platforms that existed before its official launch itself. Yes, that’s actually possible now, thanks to a Demake that one passionate Nintendo and Portal gamer made for the latter to run on a retro console.
Portal Demake revealed to be running on a Nintendo 64 (N64)!

For the ones not well-versed about it, Portal was first released in the year 2007 by Valve. The game features a first-person perspective with the players taking on the role of the protagonist named Chell. She’s a woman who’s forced to undergo many tests within the Aperture Science Enrichment Center by an evil A.I. called GLaDOS.
Its direct sequel Portal 2 was launched four years after the first game. Not to mention that both the titles were well-received by the critics and the players themselves. At the moment, the series is considered among one of the greatest gaming franchises.

Recently, a Reddit user posted a clip of Portal running on a very old Nintendo 64 console, which is from 1997. To be precise, it’s a Demake of the original and can be seen running on the N64.
It may look unbelievable at first, but the video is actually real. The clip belongs to a gamer who made it possible to play Portal on the N64 in the first place. In case anyone missed to keep track, a person named James Lambert came up with a Demake version of the Valve’s blockbuster game to run it on the classic Nintendo device.
James had even uploaded a video of the gameplay on his own YouTube channel back in May earlier this year. You can watch it below:

Regular players who want to enjoy Portal on an N64, can now download James’ version from his GitHub account. Meanwhile, fans of the iconic franchise responded with the most positive reactions on Reddit. They remembered the old days of playing the game while also thinking about how it would actually fit perfectly on a Nintendo 64.
