Back in 2019, Rockstar Games dropped RDR2, and that satisfied the itch for players wanting GTA 6. But only for a bit. Over the years, while waiting for GTA 6, one speculation stood out the most and resonated with fans. An old Reddit post recently surfaced on Twitter where fans started to discuss the time players thought GTA 6 would be released back in 2019.

The post was captioned “Looking back at old comments from GTA fans about the years they thought GTA 6 will release in feels a bit strange.” The Twitter user then added, “How do we tell them that we are in 2023 and we still don’t have a trailer, lol.”

This post shows how fans were anticipating GTA 6 back in 2019 according to some calculations shown in a picture attached to the post. The image also showcases comments from 2017 and even 2016 where players are expecting the game in November 2018 and in 2019, respectively.

Today in 2023, players are still waiting for a trailer for GTA 6, let alone the game. This resurfaced speculation struck a chord with the community and many fans started offering their opinion. While many fans are now laughing at the speculation, the rumor was almost believable back in the day. In the end, everything didn’t seem that grim for fans as they got the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2019.

Fans discuss the resurfaced rumor in a different light

Now that it’s 2023, players know that GTA 6 is still a while away. That being said, many fans of Rockstar took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the 2016 speculation. Among the comments, there was one by a player who reminded fans how GTA 6 was expected to be launched on the PlayStation 4 and on the Xbox One.
