Sony’s PlayStation announced the enhanced PS5 version of the Popular Action RPG Ys IX: Monstrum Nox. The game was first released on the PS4 in February 2019. The polished gameplay and addictive rock soundtrack of the game garnered a loyal fanbase around the world.

The Nihon Falcom is the developer behind the Ys series. The Series was one of the first games to incorporate the ‘bump attack’ system. While the other titles of its time mostly had “turn-based” combat systems, the Ys series was one of the first games to fully use the joystick for the “fight” parts. This phenomenal feature of the game has become a defining addition to the series. Other than the combat, the music of the games is what makes the series so recognizable.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is coming to the PlayStation 5
PlayStation announced previously that Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is going to receive a remaster for the PS5. They confirmed the release date on Twitter from their official account. This enhanced version promises newly upgraded visuals, new features, and a top-notch soundtrack!

On October 17, 2022, PlayStation made a tweet sharing a video teaser for the game. The tweet said, “First look at the enhanced PS5 version of Ys IX: Monstrum Nox.” The video not only featured the upgraded visuals of the newly enhanced game but also teased the rocking new soundtrack. “Wouldn’t be an Ys trailer without wailing guitars and soaring strings” PlayStation added to their tweet.
There is no confirmation about the release date yet. But as reported by Gematsu fans can expect to get their hands on the game by the spring of 2023. It isn’t revealed yet if it’s going to be a free upgrade for the existing owners of the PS4 version or not. This version will include all the previous DLCs and updates.
How did fans react to the announcement?
Fans were very excited and overwhelmed with joy when they got to know about the announcement. They were anticipating ever since PlayStation announced that Ys IX will get a PS5 remaster. The tweet was flooded with fans, expressing their love and hype for the series. But there were also some fans who were a little skeptical;e about this enhanced version. According to them, this was “unnecessary”.
