Evil Dead: The Game fans need to brace themselves. The popular game based on the classic horror movie of the same name has been announced to have received its final new content. Devs Saber Interactive announced the news on X (Twitter). The original Evil Dead game was released in 1984 and has evolved significantly from there to become the genre-defining title it is today. The game was also rumored to get a version for the Nintendo Switch that kept fans on their toes for a long time.

However, things have taken a rather sad turn as the devs took to social media to announce that Evil Dead: The Game won’t be getting any new updates. And if that wasn’t enough to break our hearts, Saber also said that the Switch version has been canned.

Evil Dead opened the floodgates for a long list of horror movies to follow. Released in 1981, the nightmarish story of Ash and his friends scared movie-goers out of their wits. Since then, the franchise has only become bigger. With a long list of Evil Dead-inspired games, it’s no wonder that Saber’s Evil Dead: The Game was received well by the fans. The 2022 game brought cutting-edge technology and a single-player campaign that had its fair share of scares. The game became successful, and the devs announced that a version for the Nintendo Switch was in the works.

Despite fans looking forward to playing Evil Dead: The Game on the Switch, Saber has announced that the Switch version won’t be coming. The Nintendo Switch is among the most sold consoles in the world. While the console was allegedly planned to support 3D titles, it didn’t eventually make the final cut. Still, the console’s extreme popularity and a large loyal fan base could’ve helped Evil Dead: The Game to gain more sales.
