The AMD Ryzen series of CPUs have garnered widespread appreciation thanks to its great performance results. With new innovations like 3D V- Cache technology, many critics have labeled the Ryzen 7000 processors as a great option for gamers. It’s understandable that the community expects something entirely new from the new generation of AMD processors.

A release date is yet not confirmed by the manufacturers. However, according to the roadmap given by AMD in 2022, a projected release for the Zen 5 and “Granite Ridge” is speculated to happen in 2024. Moreover, there is almost a trend of launching new generational CPUs with a 12 to 18 months gap between two generations. With this unwritten industry trend, March 2024 will be exactly 18 months after the release of the 7000 series CPUs.

However, the release may be even delayed as the new generation of CPUs will be designed with entirely new technology. Since the 8000 series won’t be developing on existing tech from the 7000 series CPUs, the delay just may be possible.

Specifications and capabilities of the 8000 processors

An “advanced node” technology is expected to overhaul the performance benchmarks for AMD processors with 8000 CPUs. However, minute details are yet undisclosed. Despite that, it’s rumored that an RDNA 3.5 GPU will be integrated with the new generation of processors, making the need for dedicated graphics cards somewhat irrelevant for casual users.

The Zen 5 architecture is expected to be compatible with the AM5 motherboards. 16 Zen 5 cores and Navi 3 should also warrant improved speeds and performances. While previously it was expected that an existing 4nm process node will be used to design the new generation of processors, it now looks more like an even more advanced 3nm node to be used for the process. A power draw ranging from 65 to 170 watts is expected to make the processors all the more efficient.
