Of course, the game does not bring ray tracing to the table, but the developers of this enhanced version have made sure this game looks much better. To do so, they have improved the lighting of Quake II tenfold.

Improvements like Increased Luxel Density, Light Grid Support, Texture Independent Lighting, and much more have been made so that the game’s shadows and lighting can look as lifelike as possible.

There are also numerous Graphical improvements

Aside from improvements in lighting, the developers have also made a bunch of changes to various graphical aspects of this game. From animations to muzzle flashes, even the smallest things have gotten their share of improvements.

The developers suggest they were able to recover the original animation files for this game and give them a modern flair. They simply used those animations to create more realistic skeletal animations for the enhanced character models.

These kinds of subtle quality-of-life changes make you realize how much a developer is thinking about their own gameplay experience when working on a game.

It looks like the developers of this enhanced edition did just that; they probably made exactly the changes that they wanted to see.
