Scarlet and Violet are the latest addition to the fan-favorite Pokemon franchise. The game has been developed by Game Freak, who developed the other games of the franchise. These two games are also the first titles of the ninth-generation Pokemon games.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet gameplay is a hot mess

The first thing to notice in a game is the gameplay, which involves the mechanics and visuals. But these two new titles lost the battle with their gameplay only. As soon as the game begins, players get to see the great visuals the game has to offer.

But soon they start exploring the game, the players will encounter performance issues. The game would be full of jitters and glitches. Then certain fidgeting animations in the game also spoil the mood further. So, if you are a fan of smooth gameplay, then this is going to be a horror ride.

From all the reactions from fans about the poor performance and jittering animation, it seems the developers wanted to offer a lot. But they fell short thanks to the limitations of the consoles and development time. Seeing this game, maybe it’s time for a Nintendo Switch successor and developers take more time to develop their games.

Scarlet and Violet offer freedom to the players

If we move beyond the controversial gameplay, Scarlet and Violet offer an open-world setting. It makes the game fun, as players would now want to explore the Paldea region. But the developers added one more thing to make the open-world setting more enjoyable and offer great freedom to them.

From the first two games in 1996 to even Pokemon Legends: Arceus, there was a set game path that the players needed to follow. But this time, the developers said to follow your heart and do what you want to. These are three different paths to follow in the game. But the players are free to choose which one they want.

They also have freedom in how they want to complete the selected path. Like in the classic Pokemon League path, players would no longer need to follow the order of the gym set by the game. Instead, players can fight whichever gym they want to take on first. The game also offers a lot of options to create the player’s in-game avatar. Maybe players now want this kind of setting in Pokemon games.

Most importantly, the experience with Pokemon

The main feature of this series is Pokemon, and this game did a lot of things around Pokemon. The most-talked terastalizing, the new power boost system in the new titles, is an interesting boost to use and the visuals for it also make the Pokemon look amazing.

The game brought back the feature of the Pokemon following the player. It was first introduced in HeartGold and SoulSilver, where the first Pokemon in the party follows you around. The same can be done in this new game, but you can also keep them in the ball if you want.

Legendary Pokemon always have a huge role in every Pokemon game, as they also appear on the game’s cover. Usually, players get the cover legendaries late in the game, but here they get it as soon as the game starts. But players can’t use it in battle until a late stage in the game.

But the players can use the cover legendary as a bike to travel around until them. Undoubtedly, it was quite an innovative idea to use the Legendary Pokemon as a mode of transportation until usable in battles.

Maybe it’s time for voice actors

It’s been over 26 years since the first game came out. Now there are so many games in the Pokemon universe and they have all advanced a lot. And one of the features the players felt the series needed is voice acting.

The developers still stick with the classic dialogue box system for their new games. But this might be the time for them to get voice actors in the game. Undoubtedly, it would make the game more fun to play.

These two games were very ambitious projects for Nintendo, Game Freak, and The Pokemon Company. They did offer a great game, but it’s in a state hot mess. Possibly, they learned a lot from the reviews of these two games.
