During the covid era, the world had become a wild place. While being stuck in their houses, people were yearning for engagement and entertainment. That is when the toxic internet trend of canceling celebrities was at its height. Society coined this phenomenon as “Cancel Culture”. Even YouTube’s top dogs, such as KSI weren’t safe from it.
Olajide “JJ” Olatunji aka KSI is one of the biggest and most successful internet personalities in the world. Aside from being a huge YouTube creator, JJ is a rising star in the boxing field as well as in the music industry. KSI is also the owner of Misfit Boxing and the co-owner of the worldwide sensation, PRIME hydration.
Although JJ is probably one of the faces of the platform, even he was once terrified of the toxic culture that was preying on celebrities and influencers. The trend ruined many of his fellow creator’s careers. He had to be very cautious about his words and a mishap could have been enough to end it all.

KSI shares his thought on “Cancel Culture”
On February 28th, 2023, KSI appeared on a YouTube Podcast show called “The Checkup Podcast with Doctor Mike”. In his conversation with the host, KSI pondered upon all the wild incidents that had taken place in the previous, especially during the covid era. Which is when he shared his thoughts on the cancel culture.
“During Covid where it was just very apparent, everyone was just on you. And cancel culture was going crazy. Anything you did, like everyone, was scared to even say anything. Just in case if you piss someone off and that could ruin your whole career because of it.” said the youtube entrepreneur KSI.

However, KSI believes that over the years this toxicity has died down a little. “Yeah, I think over the years, people have started to realize that we were all humans and that no one is perfect.” The host joined in KSI’s statement by adding, “because if we continue that everyone’s going to get canceled.”
“I don’t believe in this idea that we should worship people because you know they are just people. Simple as that.” KSI added closing remarks to the topic. According to JJ, everyone, including celebrities and influencers, are normal human beings who make mistakes from time to time and that is no valid reason for ruining someone’s entire career.
