Over the years, we have seen many titles that were in development, promoted, and marketed well; teasers and trailers were revealed, but the game never ended up coming out. There are many examples, like Rockstar’s spy game Agent, Rainbow Six Patriots, Star Wars 1313, Prey 2, and the list goes on and on.
Similarly, a game that was bound to be one of the best horror games of all time was shut down even though it was in full-fledged development, and that too after releasing a teaser demo version nine years ago. And now, one of the co-directors of the game lashes out at the company.

Silent Hill is regarded as one of the best horror gaming franchises of all time. And to carry forward this legacy, Konami planned to release an installment called ‘Silent Hills.’ To make it the best game in the series, Konami hired famous video game designer Hideo Kojima and renowned filmmaker Guillermo del Toro.
To give the fans a real feel for what is coming next, Kojima Productions, with the codename 7780 Studios, released a demo game named “P.T.”, which stands for ‘Playable Teaser.’ This demo game actually served as a teaser for the main Silent Hills game. People were really amazed by this creative idea to market the game. The demo game was released on August 12th, 2014, on the Play Store and was absolutely free to play on the PlayStation Network.
9 years ago today at @gamescom, the innovative P.T. demo was released by Hideo Kojima on PS4 to reveal the SILENT HILLS project with @RealGDT and Norman Reedus.

P.T. itself was a huge success, and fans couldn’t wait to get their hands on the main game. But things went extremely wrong, as the main game was never released. Even the P.T. game was removed from the PlayStation Network.
Popular Mexican director lashes out at Kojima
Guillermo del Toro is a highly popular Mexican filmmaker and author. This man has three Academy Awards, three BAFTA Awards, and one Emmy to his name. These precious accolades clearly speak as to why Kojima collaborated with del Toro for the direction of Silent Hills.
But although he gave it his all, the game was never released. Even nine years later, Guillermo seems to still harbor hard feelings for Konami. A few days ago, it was the 9th anniversary of P.T.’s release. The famous director remembered the game in a new way with a tweet.
Del Toro’s tweet clearly reveals the pain that the game, in which he put so much hard work, was never released. His “Irrumabo Konamitus” also shows the grudge he holds against Konami.
Ah… Konami… What sayeth thou? Irrumabo Konamitus. https://t.co/Z212Sq7t38

The primary reason for this unfortunate event can be concluded to be the splitting of Konami and Kojima Productions following the release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Kojima demanded a high budget for The Phantom Pain, and the rift between these two gaming giants began. Konami made waves when they publicly removed the name from the Meta Gear Solid title. And this resulted in the final nail in the coffin for Silent Hills as well.
