Epic Games made an announcement on Twitter about acquiring Rock Band’s makers Harmonix today. Harmonix is one of the most renowned indie game studios that is known to create popular gaming franchises such as Rock Band and Dance Central. This new development would mean that fans can now expect some interesting combination of features in Epic’s games such as Fortnite as the partnership might bring in some new elements to the game. This takeover would not affect the Rock Band franchise in any manner and it will continue to roll out even better under Epic!

Epic announces its latest acquisition of Rock Band devs Harmonix
Epic announced this acquisition on both Twitter and its blog and talked about its intent to develop its metaverse from the perspective of music. Epic affirmed their faith in Harmonix by applauding their impeccable track record of creating the best music experience over the decades.
The blog further stated that the team at Epic will work closely with Harmonix to incorporate musical journeys and gameplay in Fortnite as well as support existing titles such as Rock Band 4. This means that the Rock Band franchise will continue to get DLCs and there is a fun Season 25 coming ahead of an already planned Season 26.

The CEO and founder of Harmonix Alex Rigopulos say that this collaboration will allow both parties to push boundaries and innovate new ways to perform and share music.“Harmonix has always aspired to create the world’s most beloved interactive music experiences, and by joining Epic we will be able to do this at scale,” says Rigopulos.
Adding on to that, Alain Tascan, Vice President of Game Development, reaffirms, “Together with the Harmonix team we will transform how players experience music, going from passive listeners to active participants.”
Fans are looking forward to what this unique collaboration will bring in to Epic’s IPs such as Fortnite. Whatever the new features might be, they do give hope of being engaging ones.
