Twitter is still suffering from a financial crisis. The company is dealing with losses and many critics are blaming Elon Musk and his decisions to be the cause. Although Musk has stepped down from his role as CEO, he is still the target of critics. Regardless, people are looking hopefully at the new CEO Linda Yaccarino to be the adult in the scenario and save the company from its woes.

But Twitter is a long way from saving itself from problems. In the meanwhile, many people have started pitching in how the new Twitter should revamp itself to weather the financial storm they are in.

One of the pitches to revamp Twitter came from MIT Scientist Lex Fridman. Fridman is a respected AI academic and research scientist at MIT along with being a fan of Musk. He has hosted Musk on his podcast and once also offered to run Twitter for him for free. While Fridman did not get the job as CEO, he still had some noteworthy plans for Twitter.

He pitched that Twitter reshuffles its domain from social media app to a podcasting app. He praised the inclusivity Twitter shows to everyone in text-based conversations. If they added a podcast hosting feature, it will do wonders for the app.

This pitch, however, seemed like a long shot. To completely shift the main objective of an app is a monumental task to carry out. With the resources of Twitter already stretching thin, it won’t be concluded in time.

Elon Musk himself came forward to comment on this pitch. He suggested to Fridman that Twitter has already implemented something similar earlier.

Musk recommended the use of Twitter Spaces to Fridman. Spaces is a way to have live audio conversations on Twitter. He tweeted, “I recommend doing Twitter Spaces simultaneously and interacting with users dynamically while recording your podcast.”

Twitter Spaces itself was not a perfect feature, to begin with. The feature was removed for some time under Musk’s reign. He claimed that the feature was removed to fix a newly identified bug. Although it is back now, it is still up in the air that this would be the best way to do podcasts on Twitter.
