FromSoftware really struck gold with Elden Ring; it’s not as if their previous games were not as good, it’s just that this one broke plenty of sales records. On top of that, it won the prestigious Game of the Year award at 2022’s Game Awards.

And to this day, its achievements keep growing in numbers. As is customary with every FromSoftware game, this one too will get a DLC. And now a bunch of new information on that DLC has started making the rounds on the internet.

When Elden Ring was revealed years ago, FromSoftware gave us nothing but a short teaser with a powerful voiceover. It talked of the Elden Ring that had been “shattered by someone or something”. The trailer gave an indication of what’s to be expected from this upcoming game. At least in the sense of story.

This upcoming expansion, though, gives no hint of anything. Its name is pretty vague, given that most of the Elden Ring’s world lies in the shadow of the Erdtree. It has no indication that it might have Miquella as its primary driving force. This has been speculated on by fans for the longest time.

But now, a little update has presented itself, giving a small hint at when one can expect this DLC to be properly revealed and released. Someone noticed that a LinkedIn post suggested this DLC to be in development during April 2022.

This means FromSoftware probably instantly started working on it after releasing the base game. This means that it should not be very far from launch now.

What about the story though?

There are a bunch of speculations about the direction this DLC’s story might take. The biggest of them is that this might be about Miquella the unalloyed. He is the one demigod who cares for the common populace, but he was mostly missing from the base game. After being kidnapped by his own half-brother, he limited himself to that cocoon of his.

The other speculation is that maybe it would be a part prequel that would take players to the time when Ranni stole the Rune of Death. This would be an interesting thing to witness too. Seeing Godwyn the Golden in all his glory and witnessing his fall would be interesting.

But all this is, for the time being, nothing but speculation. Anything would only be confirmed once the DLC actually launches or if the developers themselves reveal something.
