But the major nerfs and buffs that have been brought to heroes in each category are the talk of the community now. Doomfist, Junker Queen, Bastion, Sojourn, Symmetra, Tracer, Ana, and Kiriko are the heroes that received the most adjustments.
Doomfist is coming back to his former glory
The fans of Overwatch 2 were disappointed at the viability of Doomfist as a tank in the game. All Doomfist players will appreciate the improvements and quality-of-life upgrades that the December 2022 patch delivered.
- Numerous changes have been made to Rocket Punch, starting with an increase in impact damage from 15-20 to 25-50. This is a huge boost considering the previous damage state of the ability. To balance this ability damage out, the wall slam damage range has been reduced. It is reduced from 20-40 to 10- 30 damage (Minimum to maximum).
- The charged/empowered Rocket Punch damage stunt duration has also been reduced. It now stuns enemies for about 0.25-0.75 seconds. The non-empowered punch will stun opponents for a minimum of 0.25 secs.
- The knockback radius is now 3 meters.
- The cooldown and minimum cancel time of Rocket Punch are now 0.12 and 3 seconds respectively.
- The impact duration of Power Block is 2.5 seconds, and there is a 7-second cooldown. With just absorbing 80 damage through Power Block, Rocket Punch will get fully charged.
- The ultimate, Meteor Strike now activates Rocket Punch on landing. Meteor Strike’s slow duration is now increased to 3 seconds.
This patch also rolls out quality-of-life changes regarding Doomfist’s health. They increased the maximum temporary health to 200. Doomfist will revive 40 health points as temporary health after receiving ability hits.
Doomfist overshadowing the new tank, Ramattra looms large.
Sojourn is getting the ‘much demanded’ nerfs in this Overwatch 2 December Patch
Sojourn nerfs was the talk of the community for a long time now. Her Railgun loses energy after 5 seconds. Her critical damage rate also took a hit, and now it has a 1.5x multiplier. They reduced the falloff range to 40 meters for her charged Railgun.
This doesn’t mean she is completely out of the picture. The DPS hero is getting a buff as well. The damage per projectile of Sojourn’s Railgun is increased from 9 to 10.
Meanwhile, Symmetra and Tracer who are part of the DPS hero pool also received some changes. The beam charge and decay of Symmetra’s Proton Projector is now 20 percent. The primary fire ammo is increased to 10 and she can regain ammo through shooting barriers. Tracer’s Pulse Pistols damage is increased to 6.
Junker Queen and Bastion receive a pair of adjustments to balance their output
Junker Queen’s torso and head hitbox has been increased to 12%. The tank’s ultimate duration and cost are reduced to 4 secs and 10 percent, respectively. Commanding Shout’s CD is now 14 secs and Adrenaline Rush’s passive multiplier is 1.25%.
Bastion’s ultimate was considered to be weak compared to other DPS heroes. Now to adjust that out, his Configuration Artillery delay when projectiles drop has been reduced to 0.6 secs. Moreover, Bastion will not get damaged from his own ultimate. Explosion damage is reduced though to 250, while the delay between the ultimate shots is reduced to 20%. The Reconfigure ability is now available every 10 secs.
Overwatch 2 support heroes also are getting some changes
Ana’s Sleep Dart cooldown is now at 14 secs. Kiriko now has an auto wall climb option. Overwatch reduced her arm hit volume to 15 percent to ensure headshots are more viable on her. Kiriko’s ultimate cost has been increased while the movement speed bonus and CD reduction have been decreased. Mercy’s weapon swap time is now 0.35 seconds and the max ammo in her pistol is 25.
The changes of the December patch are to reshape the current Meta of the game and it has left fans split with emotions.
