id Software, the developers of the Quake series and Doom series might possibly be working on a new game. This new game could be an installment in either of the series. The devs are hiring for ‘a long-running iconic action FPS’ game and announced vacancies for applicants who are well versed with sci-fi art styles.

They are currently looking for applicants interested in technical positions, such as Senior Technical Animator, Skybox Artist, Environment Concept Artist, and more.

Quake and Doom devs id Software spark speculations for a new game

The developers associated with Doom and Quake sparked speculations about a new AAA title after id software posted a job listing for Senior Technical Animator. The job description on Zenimax Media’s page reads as follows:

“id Software, part of the ZeniMax Media Inc. family of companies, is seeking a Senior Technical Animator/ Character TD to join our team in our Richardson, TX studio (near Dallas) in the development of a long-running iconic action FPS. This position will be responsible for the implementation of AAA quality animation rigs with a focus on Havok cloth and hair implementation.” 

The listing called upon individuals who can serve in implementing AAA quality sci-fi level environmental vistas and skyboxes.

It is unclear for now whether the new game will be an installment in Doom or Quake. The community would definitely love a new addition to either of these series.

Recently, Quake received a remastered version of its original game to mark the 25th anniversary of the franchise. This iconic FPS game was retouched with 4K resolution, dynamic lighting, anti-aliasing, depth of field, and many other new features. Furthermore, a local and online co-op of up to four players was added to the game’s single-player campaign mode.

The Quake Games are easily available through Xbox Game Pass. However, Quake III and Quake III Arena are only available to PC users.

The prospects, however, hint towards a probable Doom project but the uncertainty leave fans excited for what the devs will present next.
