But many fans are wondering how much the latest game would have cost the developers to make Modern Warfare II. The Call of Duty series started with the first game which had a budget of 4.5 million. But as the series advanced so did the development budgets for these games.

However, the most expensive game in the series’ history is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. We are not talking about the latest game but the original MW2 that came out back in 2009.

The American video game company spent $200 million on marketing to promote the game. Undoubtedly, the huge expenditure bore fruit as the revenue figures on the fifth-day sale was $550 million. Further, the company earned $1 billion by 2013, becoming one of the most successful Call of Duty games.

What is the budget for the 2022 Call of Duty game?

Activision rebooted the Modern Warfare series back in 2019. Since then they have been working on the sequel, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, which shares the name with the 2009 game. However, the new MWII will feature a new storyline and gameplay.
