After performing various tests on the PS4 and Xbox One models, the developers came to this decision. As per Frogwares communications manager Sergey Oganesyan, “We understand some players will be upset about this news, but we made the decision with you first in mind. Rest assured, we are not canceling these versions. We only need more time and a little breathing room for our team to wrap these up properly. We are talking a few weeks at most, but this is still to be seen.”

According to the studio, Sherlock Holmes Chapter 1 is not going to get canceled for last-gen and will be released. However, the developers need time to even out all the rough edges in order to deliver a smooth experience.

The developers have not provided any release date or timeline only vaguely mentioning “a few weeks at most.” With that said, it is a good thing that Frogwares and the team are taking their time rather than rushing the game. If this delay makes for an unspoiled gameplay experience for PS4 and Xbox One players, then it might not be the worst thing.
