Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the most popular titles in the Animal Crossing series. Furthermore, it has contributed a lot to Nintendo Switch’s success by selling over 37.62 million units. In addition to that, the 2.0 update released brand new content for veterans to experience and login back into New Horizons.
Moreover, Nintendo introduced the long-awaited cafe, The Roost, and Brewster, with the November update. Naturally, several users are very excited about the developers’ thank you rewards for the two-year anniversary. Here’s how the fans reacted to their favorite Animal Crossing title second anniversary.

New Horizons’ initial release date is March 20, 2022. Back in February, Nintendo itself reported ACNH secured the second-highest selling title after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (sold 7.7 million units) by selling 5.0 million units between October to December 2021. This proves how much impact New Horizons has created on the community.
Interestingly, 5.0 million is not even half of the units ACNH sold in 2020. After consolidating the second-highest selling title on Nintendo Switch, fans had some expectations from developers for the game’s two-year anniversary. Unfortunately, all their expectations turned to dust, when developers tweeted nothing related to the anniversary.
One fan highlighted Nintendo’s ignorance towards the fanbase
It’s the two year anniversary of Animal Crossing and we didn’t even get a tweet from the official twitter let alone an item or cake 💀. I think they’re done with us

Whereas, another user thanked developers for releasing ACNH at the time of the ongoing pandemic, COVID-19.

Surprisingly, one fan stated their opinion on the developer’s ignorance towards the fanbase. The tweet read, “I don’t completely blame them. So many players were poisonous to them because the game was so empty on release, and everyone kinda forgot how Covid impacted development.”
