IO Interactive is the brilliant studio behind the ever-evolving Hitman series. Every fan of the series knows how brilliantly they handled the three most recent titles. They were nothing short of brilliant. IO Interactive was let loose by Square Enix in 2017, and they had to start fending for themselves. They partnered with Warner Bros. to publish Hitman 3.

Now, they have at least two ambitious new projects in the works. And they have already opened a new studio in Brighton called IOI Brighton. It seems they have no intentions of stopping there, as rumors shed light on their future plans.

IO Interactive is a studio that redefines modern stealth games. Rather than keeping players locked in one location and giving them just a few options to deal with a situation, their Hitman series of games gave players an open world. Free to explore, free to grasp opportunities, and free to do with those opportunities as they will.

These games gave them a very good reputation, thanks to which they are currently working on a massively licensed game. Indeed, it’s that James Bond game they announced a while ago. And then there’s that RPG game they announced earlier this year. Maybe that’s why they are planning to open yet another branch in even more countries. They are also looking for newer “publishing opportunities,” it seems.

With such massive titles in the works, it’s obvious they would need as much manpower as they could get. It also makes sense for them to be looking for smaller titles to publish in order to expand their portfolio, which can help IO grow in this massive market.

Let’s hope this expansion also means they will bring back Hitman games sometime in the future. It’s always good to see Agent 47 in action.

James Bond and the creators of the Hitman series are a match made in heaven

Agent 47 is a smart man; he dresses sharp, he does not like going guns-blazing, and he knows how to weigh his chances. When he enters the mission area, his eyes search for opportunities and ways to dispose of his targets as quickly and easily as he can.

James Bond is no different—a smart man who dresses sharply and is good at analyzing his odds. It goes to show how well-suited this IP is for interactive IO. They are so good at making massive playgrounds full of opportunities that there’s no doubt they would make an excellent 007 video game too.

I cannot wait to see how close these games end up being in terms of gameplay mechanics and such.
