With the aging of Destiny 2, many fans have started to wonder what’s next for the game. Since its launch six years ago, the game has garnered a loyal audience for itself. However, the title is now losing its charm among fans, with some saying they need Destiny 3.

And looks like Bungie has heard the pleas of the loyal fanbase and subtly hinted at a new title for the Destiny series. But when the game will be announced or if is there actually a sequel lined up is still up in the air.

Bungie recently sent out a closed survey to a select group of Destiny 2 players. The survey asked them about various aspects of the existing gaming scene, spanning mobile, PC, and console games. What looked like a normal survey actually surprised fans, more precisely, two questions.

All the questions asked about the interest of fans in playing a new Destiny game. The first one read, “How likely would you be to play a new game from the following (Destiny) franchises?” The second question asked fans, “Again, thinking about a new game from Destiny, which of the following options would you prefer?”

The survey also asked similar questions about Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls. But fans were more interested in Destiny’s sequel, as demands for a new title have been gaining traction from the past month.

Is the much-awaited Destiny 3 finally here?

The demands for a Destiny sequel started last month when a new ‘The Final Shape’ DLC dropped for Destiny 2. Many fans thought this DLC to be the end point of Destiny 2, with the DLC summarizing all the story arcs from The Light and Darkness Saga.

But Design Director Jacob Benton said in 2021, “I don’t think it’s the right direction to bring [the series] to Destiny 3.” They were expecting to keep on developing Destiny 2 with continuous DLC expansions.

But looks like Bungie has had a change of heart ever since. It may be speculated the engine limitations of the prequel and lack of further story arcs are the cause for the arrival of Destiny 3. Whatever may be the reason, fans would definitely be excited to play a new Destiny title.
