Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were the most ambitious projects of Game Freak and Nintendo. After much waiting, it hit the shelves last year. But these Generation IX games were hit by a lot of criticism from the fans due to glitchy and poor performance issues.

These two new games are set in the new Paldea region that introduced many new features and Pokemon. But the most exciting aspect is the open-world setting. It is the first game in the Pokemon series to have an open-world setting.

But despite so many new features, these new titles had choppy animation and glitchy graphics. These difficulties were unable to prevent Scarlet and Violet from reaching great heights. Recent reports suggest these two titles took down a fan-favorite Nintendo Switch title that also came out this year.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet defeat Splatoon 3

Latest reports suggest that the newly released Pokemon Scarlet and Violet showcased outstanding performances in the Japanese market. Nintendo sold over 277,676 copies of the two titles in the first week of December. Meanwhile, another Nintendo Switch favorite, Splatoon 3, sold over 51,315 units.

Nintendo released Splatoon 3 in September 2022. And since then, the Japanese giants have sold over 3,497,714 units of this multiplayer third-person shooter. Meanwhile, the newly released Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have not only matched the overall sales of Splatoon 3 but outsold it, selling over 3,702,482 units.

Undoubtedly, these are some great results from the two new Pokemon titles. It showcased that despite the criticism, the two new titles had a lot to offer. Possibly, Scarlet and Violet could have reached much higher sales without the glitches and performance issues.

New anime adaptation on the way

The new Pokemon additions have one more great piece of news for fans. Scarlet and Violet are set to get an anime adaptation next year. Although fans might have seen it coming, as every Pokemon title got an anime series. But the one based on the Generation IX games would be different.

The significant difference in the upcoming Scarlet and Violet-themed anime would be the absence of Ash and Pikachu. Yes, the two main protagonists of the series for over 25 years have ended their journey with the ongoing Pokemon Journeys: The Series. Their farewell would make way for two new protagonists.
