Twitch Convention, or simply known as TwitchCon is the annual convention of the streaming platform. It is organized by Twitch interactive, with a general focus on online content creation and gaming. It is a massive event with high standards, but even with all its measures, TwitchCon couldn’t prevent the disaster that unfolded in this year’s event.

TwitchCon 2022 is a very successful event so far. Fans got the chance to meet their favorite content creators after a long two-year break. The creators also got a great avenue to promote their content and upcoming projects. There were a lot of expectations about something spicy to happen in this year’s Convention, as the whole year was filled with Twitch drama. And something did happen, but in a much more disastrous way.

How did the accident occur at TwitchCon?

TwitchCon is not like any other convention. The whole event is jam-packed with attractions and booths to give all attendees a good time. The Lenovo Legion Booth had hosted a Face Off. Here they had set up a foam pit where streamers would try to knock each other off from raised podiums using padded poles.

It seems completely harmless in theory, but when Adriana Chechik, a streamer with  802,000 followers, jumped into the foam pit, she broke her back in two places. According to the hospital, metal rods have to be surgically inserted in order to support her spine.

But that’s not it. Adriana wasn’t the only one who got injured in the foam pit. LochVaness dislocated her knee and sprained her ankle after she stepped off the podium following her victory. And there were also other contestants also who complained about getting injuries from the pit.

What happened to the ball pit after the incident?

The pit was closed, and no one was permitted to have access to it. At the beginning of the event, contestants were weaned against jumping into the pit. They also had to sign liability waivers. Though the foam pit was according to the measures of saving a falling adult from injuries, the organizers took every precaution to save themselves from liability in case of an incident like this.

This incident was very much like the ball pit incident at the DashCon. During TwitchCon, another streamer managed to hurt herself in an unrelated accident. Genshin Impact streamer Zummers broke her ankle while competing in the World Balloon cup.
