But Google isn’t the kind of company that will just give on an opportunity without trying once. That is where Stadia comes into the picture. Google tried to dip its toes in the Gaming Market, with its innovative new systems where players can play games directly from the cloud anywhere, anytime. All they would need is a compatible screen and the Stadia controller.

But ever since the release, the system has faced a lot of backlashes. Issues like not running smoothly, glitches occurring if the connection isn’t strong enough, and many more issues are prominent in the system. That is why Google is finally pulling the cord and killing the Stadia.

This news got some mixed receptions as though it never was able to get off the ground completely. It still managed to garner a loyal fanbase that figured out clever ways to use the system. Like the fans of the game “Destiny 2” who chose Stadia as one of the best systems to enjoy their favorite game, as it allows some great advantages in grinding.

How does the death of Google Stadia affect Destiny 2 players?

Every Destiny 2 player is familiar with the name Lucky Lai aka Luckstruck9, also known as “The Checkpoint Guy”. He was the first to devise the idea of using 11 Stadia accounts to share checkpoints with fellow raiders to skip the mundane parts of loot grinding. And soon this method became a norm among the Destiny 2 community. But that is not all.

Stadia, even with all its flaws, was a revolutionary concept. It was the only reason Bungie kept developing Destiny 2, even during the pandemic. It compelled Microsoft to launch Xbox cloud games. So now the uncertainty of Stadia is turned into a hot topic for controversy among the Destiny 2 fanbase.

Now that they are out of options, Lai and his community are looking for new solutions to this issue. He said, “Community-based checkpoints are one of the easiest solutions assuming people can familiarize themselves with the system”. They are currently able to do this using Lai’s Discord. He said, “around 11 people AFKing at the same time” to get the same result as using the Stadia.

How did fans react to Stadia getting dropped?

After the initial announcement of Google pulling the plug on Stadia, there has been a plethora of varying opinions about the system. Some praised the innovation that it brought, some recollected the odds that contributed to the downfall, and some even felt glad that it had a respectful farewell. But there were some who said Stadia was a recipe for disaster even from the beginning.
