PlayTracker’s recent tweet suggests that they have analyzed and estimated sales of over a million copies on both Steam and Xbox Series X/S. If the data is accurate, it implies that Bethesda Game Studios has reached substantial sales milestones. However, it’s important to take this data with a grain of salt since PlayTracker uses machine-learning algorithms to speculate the number of players for a given game.
Based on our user sampling data so far, PlayTracker estimates #Starfield has far surpassed the 1M player milestone on both Steam and XBOX with just the Premium Edition buyers.

The Premium Edition, priced at $99.99, includes early access, the “Shattered Space” story expansion, exclusive skins, and more, reflecting a growing trend in premium editions offering early access. Game Pass subscribers have an option to upgrade to the Premium version for $34.99.
Each early access user-contributed at least $100 for the privilege of playing five days ahead of the global launch. The game also claimed the top spot on Steam’s top-seller list, even though it faced piracy issues before launch.
What fans thought of the early access of Starfield
PlayTracker’s post only increased anticipation within the community, with it being dropped just a day before the official launch. The post spread like wildfire and gained the attention of over 500 thousand fans. Many of them were excited about the official launch of the game and couldn’t contain their excitement.

One user went on to point out that the data could be inaccurate, as it is not directly from the developers but from machine learning, which can often be wrong. That’s when the original poster went on to explain that the numbers are just estimates.
Hahahaha, fair.
TBH we didn't even call it machine learning at first until people told us it was machine learning! To us it was just "well, if we are overestimating the games this user plays, maybe that user is over represented in our sample and we should weigh them less".

An interesting observation made by a fan was one that stated how they believe that releasing games on separate dates for PC and console isn’t always a good idea.
Just goes to show that launching on PC day and date rather than just on one console can help be a huge success!

Two fans of the game even started a discussion about their guesstimates of how many copies of Starfield will Bethesda sell overall. And one user believes that the game has the potential to sell over 100 million copies!
Over 100 million on this game easy. Just wait for the dozens of DLCs, collabs with Starwars etc, thousands of mods etc. This is already the best game I've ever played, imagine with all that's coming to it.
