Cyberpunk 2077 developers have dropped details of a major update for the game in the form of Phantom Liberty. Although the new content is essentially an expansion update, fans cannot keep calm as developers CD Projekt Red finally seem to be making good on their promise of a great in-game experience. They have included an array of new features including new skill trees with updated AI and combat perks to overhaul the game almost entirely after its poor reception upon initial release in 2020.

The Summer Game Fest trailer of Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty showcased a possible new thriller story based on a spy character. Night City is quite possibly getting a new district, Dog Town, to explore as well, which will be available to explore by the players, possibly even as Idris Elba!

Cyberpunk 2077 faced harsh criticisms from fans and critics alike after its release despite being one of CDPR‘s most anticipated projects. Excitement about the game peaked after the game trailer revealed some real-life superstars like Keanu Reeves to be involved in the game. But a buggy display upon release saw fans disappointed not with just the storyline of the game, but also the slug gameplay and poor mechanics.

The new expansion pack titled Phantom Liberty looks to overhaul the core aspects of the game, which means even base-game owners will have tons of new materials to go through as the September update drops. A new Police System as well as a significantly different vehicle combat mode will be introduced. Along with the gameplay changes, the basic UI of the game is also going to be redone with Phantom Liberty.

Tons of materials to be introduced

An array of new enemies with loot difficulties were also displayed at the showcase, which has the fans excited. The enthusiasm and optimism are easily understandable given that CDPR took almost three years to develop the expansion after the game’s release. According to Pawel Sasko, the creative director, “almost no original feature has been left untouched” in Phantom Liberty, which means the fans who had given up on the game after its initial release may be tempted to step back into Night City once again.
