While most of us are still desperately waiting to get our hands on the new PlayStation 5, it seems like Sony is planning to introduce a beefier version of the already existing PS5. However, this speculation has emerged from a recent job listing made by the company that makes the consoles. Sony might be contemplating the idea of launching a PS5 Pro similar to the last-gen PS4 models.

The new role in question requires the person to work on the Graphics API, which is at the core of powering PS5 games. Another critical detail in the listing states that the person will need to work with people who’ve been involved in crafting/contributing to “the architecture of multiple generations of PlayStation consoles.”

All of this has led many to believe that an alleged new PlayStation 5 Pro might be on the cards. Sony’s PS4 Pro was a mid-cycle refresh and packed in a little more punch than the base PlayStation4 model. The newer PS5 models are the best-selling consoles even before reaching the year mark. So it seems unlikely that the company will release a new PS5 Pro anytime soon.

However, if Sony is working on a new hardware upgrade, players want to see more performance and possibly new GPU and CPUs. The Pro model might even let users experience true 8K gaming and clock in higher refresh rates.
But these remain mere speculations without any official word from Sony. So it’s better to take all of this with a pinch of salt. It will be interesting to see what the company has in store for users, as the PlayStation 5 will be due for an upgrade soon enough.
