CS2, a failed sequel or a victim of sky-high expectations? Well, what went wrong with the highly anticipated sequel in terms of its reception is a never-ending debate. However, the developers have left no stone unturned to match up to the actual potential of the long-awaited project. Apparently, in just the last few days, the title has been subjected to 3 patch notes, including some big improvements in the game. But is it too late for CS2 already or is there still hope for Valve to hop on the pedestal? 

Ever since Valve launched the follow-up project to unarguably one of the biggest FPS creations Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, fans have been discussing whether the schedule was rushed. Although gaming fans had to wait for over a decade to experience the sequel, the CS2 launch still felt like an undercooked product for a lot of fans. Of course, Valve had some big shoes to fill in. However, it seems like the developers are ready to redeem the CS: GO legacy, as CS2 tends to be improving with every update. Here’s what has happened in the last few days. 

CS2 is getting better with constant updates, aiming at the long run!

Valve has now released patch notes for CS2 on 17, 16, 13, and 9 November, respectively. These updates have mostly focused on the bugs that were commonly reported by the Counter-Strike veterans. Moreover, there have been some interesting adjustments made to the innovations introduced in CS2.

The latest patch notes that arrived on November 17, 2023, are: 

  • Fixed a few minor sub-tick input bugs
  • Fixed a bug with first-person animation in the bot takeover
  • Fixed a bug where dropped/thrown weapons had too much velocity
  • Fixed a case where players could push their view through low ceilings
  • Fixed an exploit that would allow players to teleport

The previous updates similar to the recent one have focused on improving the action experience and the sub-tick system improvement, which has been the highlight of CS2’s short campaign. 

Blast Fall Final is the reason behind the big updates? 

While Valve had assured the community of improving the game with time, the recent events have taken the community by storm. However, it was not a surprising update for a lot of pro gamers who are aware that Blast Fall Final 2023 is just around the corner. So, the Valve sequel wouldn’t want any major error during the grand celebration of the Counter-Strike legacy.

The Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark will host the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023 from November 22–26. There is a $425,000 USD total prize pool that the eight eligible teams will compete for. The winner of the competition will also be competing for a spot in the coveted BLAST Premier World Final in 2023.

Some of the biggest eSporting clubs would be featuring in the first-ever top-tier live CS competition in Europe. Obviously, the spotlight would be on the FPS franchise and Valve wouldn’t want the limelight to be taken away due to some major bummers in the latest release.

Certainly, the arrival of the tournament has brought good news for all the FPS fans worldwide as the game has sped up its redemption arc. It will be interesting to see how the game is received with all these current updates.
