This leak comes from some eagle-eyed fans who have noticed something very unusual in the trailers of a couple of upcoming Nintendo Switch games.
Fans spot supposed Nintendo Switch 2 button prompts in the Super Mario RPG and Thousand Year Door trailer!

Nintendo launched a trailer for Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door a couple of months ago. Although this game does not have a launch date at the moment, it is pretty obvious it would release on the Nintendo Switch. For those unaware, it is a remake of one of the best Nintendo GameCube games ever.

Nintendo is also releasing a remake of Super Mario RPG on Switch. That game would be released on November 17, 2023. These games have fans super hyped, as both of them are obviously highly acclaimed. Chances are that these games will be released as cross-gen titles. This means these games would be released on both the Nintendo Switch and the Switch 2. Interestingly, it seems they are hiding some proof inside their own trailers.
Some fans who watched the two trailers noticed a very unusual thing. Prompts for the face button A in these games are showing up unusually differently. Moreover, these trailers show those buttons1 in the style of the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System). In SNES’ controller, the A button was red in color. Both of these games show the prompt for it in red too.

Therefore, this has started the speculation that these games are set for Nintendo’s upcoming console, and it would have colored face buttons too, which will somewhat resonate with the style of SNES.
Then there’s the speculation about its name
While this new kind of button prompt has given fans some kind of hint about this upcoming game, there’s much more that’s being speculated. For one, some fans have now decided that this new console would not be the Nintendo Switch 2, but rather the Super Nintendo Switch.

This way, Nintendo would have an excuse to give the upcoming console the same colored face buttons as the SNES.
