The Call of Duty franchise is edging close to a new era with massive changes coming this November. The month kicks off with the launch of the all-new Call of Duty: Vanguard. And the only upcoming features that are at par with the new title are the long-awaited anti-cheat; launching alongside the new map, Pacific for Call of Duty: Warzone.

Raven Software has done a fantastic job in not giving away any key details of the map. But there’s not much the devs can do about rumors. The Twitter and Reddit space dedicated to Warzone have been booming with talks suggesting Warzone’s Pacific will keep players in modern times instead of World War 2.

The game-defining anti-cheat releases on November 23, 2021, and takes players on a new journey with Pacific dropping on the same date. As of now, Raven Software has not revealed much about what Pacific entails. But what the community did know was the map would be set in WW2 times, keeping in line with Vanguard’s theme. At least that’s what everyone thought until now.

Discussions on the title’s developer-recognized subreddit, r/CODWarzone, have revealed interesting potential features of the new map. If true, Raven’s decision would make sense. Since a complete WW2 era would change what makes Warzone standout.

Where is Warzone headed with Pacific?

Raven has truly kept things hidden this time around with the new map. Compared to players reviewing Verdansk before Warzone even released. Even industry insiders are having a hard time confirming much about the new map.

According to the post on Reddit, even though the map is not set in WW2 times, it will retain some elements of the era. After all, it does have to fit in with the launch of Vanguard. And this decision actually makes sense. Since Warzone features weapons from Modern Warfare and Cold War, a modern times setting would be more appropriate. Especially the inclusion of modern vehicles in WW2 would be weird.

With this said, it must be noted that the information has not been confirmed as of the time of writing.
