After being one of the most-played FPS titles over the past ten years, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive finally gets a sequel. Valve recently announced that Counter-Strike 2 is set to release in the summer of 2023. There is a lot of hype among the fans to play this new CS video game.
Fans are eagerly waiting to get their hands on the game. However, Valve has shortened the wait by giving Limited Time access to some fans. In Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, when multiple players would get eliminated at the same spot, the eliminated bodies used to pass through each other. However, Valve has gone more for a realistic approach with their new FPS game.
In Counter-Strike 2, the eliminated bodies at the same point don’t pass through each other anymore. Instead, they pile up over one another.
4. Lot of shine in Counter-Strike 2
Valve showcased some glimpses of the upcoming Counter-Strike title, where we saw the game would feature many shining and reflecting surfaces. So, fans would get to enjoy brighter and more shining settings compared to what they got in Global Offensive.
However, CS: GO fans are yet to enjoy the shining and reflective visuals from the trailers. The Limited Test now only provides access to the classic Dust II map. On this map, everything is covered in dust. So it’s hard to come across something shiny or reflective. But fans can only hope that they get what the other maps showed in the teasers.
3. Molotov bottles aren’t empty
Valve has done something amazing with its Molotov bottles in Counter-Strike 2. On taking a closer look at these explosive bottles, fans would be able to see that they are filled inside. It seems the American developers really wanted to go with the realistic approach for even something which many might not notice during a competitive match.
However, these bottles don’t have any real-fluid simulation but a clever use of a shader. There is a shader effect on the surface of the bottle. Then using cube maps to mimic the reflections and the light that’s coming through the bottle creates an illusion that there is a fluid inside those bottles.
2. 3D bullet holes
The holes on any surface in Counter-Strike 2 appear to be very real and 3D, as the middle of the hole appears to go in but around slightly sticks out around the edges. However, these holes are not 3D effects, but 2D images layered over each other to create this illusion.
But bullet holes in the characters also seem pretty realistic. When an enemy is shot, there is not just a wound but the surrounding area also gets a bump or dent effect. It is done to show that the area on the character’s body took damage from the shot.
1. Modular levels in Counter-Strike 2
When accessing the skybox in CS: GO with the console, it was still loaded with the main level but was situated somewhere beyond the playable region. However, it’s completely separated in Counter-Strike 2. So it seems like the concept of a ‘map’ has become more modular, with several things getting loaded at once.

The graphic setting also gives a preview of how changes will affect the game. And if you are unhappy with the applied changes then there is a discard option to revert back to the last setting. Undoubtedly, these modular levels are going to be a huge part of this upcoming FPS game by Valve.
