Nintendo fans have been on the lookout for a fresh Mario Kart title for a while now. The franchise has spawned some of the most entertaining racers out there. And while Mario Kart 9 remains ambiguous, Nintendo surprised fans by announcing some phenomenal DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The Booster Course Pass DLC will add a whopping 48 new tracks to the game, doubling the original count!

However, a title like Mario Kart is synonymous with getting to choose from a huge roster of Nintendo characters. And this is why fans have wondered if the upcoming DLC could also include some brand new characters for the players to take out for a spin. YouTube channel Nin10doland shares their thoughts on the matter.

Could Nintendo launch DLC characters in the Booster Course Pass?

As the month of March has come around, players can expect to see wave 1 of the DLC dropping soon. Nintendo informed fans during the February 2022 Direct that the first wave would drop on March 18, 2022. This would introduce 6 remastered retro tracks for players to enjoy.

But the diversity in tracks isn’t represented in the character roster. MK 8 Deluxe’s roster doesn’t hold up too well when compared to previous entries in the franchise. And Nin10doland goes over some of their favorite picks for a newly enhanced roster and how likely it is fans would ever get to see that.

Nin10doland brings up the fact that should Nintendo choose to throw in some bonus characters with the DLC, they have an easy way of doing that. Mario Kart Tour introduces a bunch of characters that weren’t in MK 8 Deluxe, so Nintendo could simply port those over. This means characters like Hammer bro, Dixie Kong, and more could become part of the title.

However, the host also acknowledges that the Direct announcement did not mention any of these characters. Instead, they choose to focus solely on the upcoming tracks as part of the Booster ‘Course’ Pass; Nintendo has so far not alluded to any surprise additions with the DLC, despite the hype that new characters would muster.

It is not impossible to picture Nintendo deciding to port some characters from the same games they would include the upcoming tracks from, although that remains speculation until officially confirmed.
