The Last of Us Part 1 recently made its way to PC, and fresh from the HBO series, fans were pretty excited about this game. Most were excited because this was the first time that this series was making its way to this new platform.

But once the game launched, it pretty much proved a hurdle to all the excitement fans had. It seemed like the game itself was unoptimized and riddled with numerous performance-related issues. And now, some really telling information has come forward regarding this game’s development.

Naughty Dog developed the PC version of The Last of Us Part 1 alongside Iron Galaxy

The Last of Us Part 1 was an excellent version of one of Sony’s greatest first-party titles. The game’s story remained unchanged for sure, but using all the advancements that came with the game’s sequel, The Last of Us Part 2, Naughty Dog updated its visuals according to modern standards.

Fans were blown away by its visual fidelity of it. They did mention that Naughty Dog had missed an opportunity to make a bunch of gameplay-related upgrades, but the visuals were nevertheless appreciated.

This game saw major success on the PlayStation 5 when it launched. Naughty Dog even added those weapon upgrade animations featured in Part 2 to this remake. This added some much-needed modernness to this game. Fans were satisfied with what they got, and eventually, Naughty Dog even announced a PC version of this game.

The PC version started development when this remake itself was announced; chances are it was in development alongside the PS5 version, but one thing is for sure, from the very beginning, Naughty Dog had been part of its development team.

It appears that major porting duties were handled by Iron Galaxy, but Naughty Dog had some input in there. But now that the game has launched with a myriad of issues, it’s Iron Galaxy who is taking all the flak for it.

Whoever developed the game, the important thing is for it to be fixed, which has already started happening. They have already released an update for it, and more are on the way. Constant crashes and glitches might soon get fixed.
