There has always been an ongoing console war between the two biggest rivals in the video game industry – Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox. While there has never been a clear winner between the two, that might change soon.
Microsoft is currently trying to complete the biggest acquisition in video game history but has hit some snags. In the meanwhile, Sony is focusing on its products and is developing new consoles. They recently announced a new handheld console at the PlayStation Showcase 2023. Furthermore, they are also working on a new PlayStation 5 Pro console. If the PS5 Pro console hits the market, it will definitely raise challenges for Xbox consoles. But Xbox CEO thinks otherwise.

While their competition is taking huge strides in delivering a new product, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer revealed his company is currently not working on one. In an interview with Bloomberg after the Xbox Games Showcase 2023, he stated that the company feels a new Xbox Series X/S console is not needed right now. “That’s not the feedback we’re getting right now,” he said, “Right now, we’re pretty set on the hardware we have.”
Although he feels the hardware in the current Xbox console is up to the mark, the company is still releasing an updated console. The Series S console is getting a carbon black version with a 1TB SSD. These minor upgrades, however, might not be enough to keep up with the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro.

At the start of the current generation, Spencer had notably said, “We won’t be beaten on price or power.” This statement of his would turn out to be false if PS5 Pro comes out any time soon. The current PS5 digital is available at $399, while its upcoming Xbox Carbon Black counterpart will be at $349. After the Pro version will come out, it will lead to a decrease in price for PS5. This will eventually lead to fans shifting towards PlayStation for its low prices.
This is super interesting to me. If the PS5 Pro drops then where does that leave the "we won't be beaten on price or power" Phil Spencer talked about at the start of this generation?https://t.co/8P8BPq0BiO
