Competitive gamers are truly having a hard time with Nintendo. Recently, Nintendo brought some new updates to its tournaments and since then fans have been utterly disappointed. Well, they have fair enough reasons for it. Nintendo’s updated guidelines also disappointed the event organizers leaving them with the impression that Nintendo does not want to cooperate in the competitive gaming sector.

While Nintendo lets players cheat in Super Mario Kart, they have a tough take on third-party competitive tournaments. Now this is not the first time competitive gamers felt frustrated with Nintendo’s guidelines. Previously also Nintendo brought controversies regarding their strict policies in the sector. Again this famous gaming company is being considered unfair by many.

Nintendo recently updated their guidelines on running tournaments and it brought some very strict changes for gamers and organizers. Primarily, these guidelines appeared tougher as they strictly focused on the company’s aim to stop profit-making for organizers. And for that, Nintendo put an uncompromising rule for organizers to take entry fees and also not allow the sale of any Nintendo products or merchandise.

How sad is that? Not only that but Nintendo also asked organizers to strictly stop any promotional sponsorship. Additionally, the famous publishers of Mario banned any third-party equipment use as well. Now many might find this as a standard policy but it surely impacts disabled gamers. Why so? Disabled players often rely on many equipment for their accessibility and this Nintendo policy is a true demotivation for them.

However, what sparked more disappointment among players and organizers was Nintendo’s final policy. In this, the company mentioned that they can stop any tournament from proceeding further if they find it inappropriate. Well! now that they haven’t mentioned what is inappropriate for them, people are surely scared. This is also because such a policy gives Nintendo the leverage to shut down any competitive gaming tournament on their wish. Disappointed much?

Does Nintendo hate competitive tournaments?

Nintendo’s not-so-happening past with competitive tournaments is not a new thing in the Esports industry. Previously, this gaming giant spoke about its reservations about third-party gaming tournaments. After that, many concluded that Nintendo wished to maintain tight control of those tournaments where its games are associated. Now players shared their frustration with Nintendo. They mentioned that Nintendo’s latest policy updates on competitive gaming tournament is nothing but an attempt to impact the scene. Now we can’t blame the gamers who invest their hard work and dedication to get selected to any of such gaming tournaments.

Now that this policy also tries to put a full stop to event organizers’ scope to get some money back from sponsorship, Nintendo shattered that too.
