Jimmy Donaldson, aka MrBeast, is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most influential content creators in history. He has earned a growth, that was almost unheard of before. With multiple highly successful channels on YouTube and an enterprise consisting of a variety of retail businesses, Jimmy is a brand of his own.
On YouTube, his content gets more than 30-40 million views on average. The biggest video on his main channel has over 380 million views. Having such a number under his belt, the question arises, how big MrBeast actually is? If his videos are considered as ‘shows’,’ then will they be able to challenge streaming giants such as Netflix?

In a recent study by Benedict Evans, he pondered upon the question. In the research, it was stated that “a few back-of-an-envelope calculations suggest that his (MrBeast) output gets at least as much viewing as a top-tier Netflix show,” which suggests that in terms of volume, MrBeast is the same as the streaming giant.
Both YouTube and Netflix have a “time spent” model for their content. This means the time that the audience spent on each video influences the algorithm and the creator’s income (for YouTube). Jimmy’s videos are on average 10-15 mins long. Which is considerably lower than an average show episode on Netflix.
So in terms of volume, MrBeast and Netflix are on the same level, but on the matter of watch time, Netflix gets the upper hand. Another comparable factor could be the net worth of each company. According to Evan’s research, MrBeast is “certainly a company, with a ten-person thumbnail team.”
So if we view both Netflix and MrBeast as private companies, in terms of Net worth, Netflix wins with astronomic margins. Allegedly, MrBeast’s whole enterprise is valued somewhere around $500 million, while Netflix’s current value as of March is a little more than $130 Billion. This means the streaming Giants get another win against the YouTuber.

In the end, it is very apparent that MrBeast doesn’t have much stand against Netflix. However, considering the fact that he is only an individual making his own brand with pure hard work and ingenuity, it is more than impressive that he has the ground to at least make people wonder if he is as big as the biggest companies in the world. And who knows, maybe in the future there would be a day when the brand of MrBeast will be able to stand toe to toes with the biggest names in the world.
