Which would perform better? A fan-loved, well-established AAA franchise or a low-effort parody of it? To everyone’s surprise, it is the latter. The parody game of Battlefield 2042, Clownfield 2042 has managed to secure better reviews.

Clownfield 2042 came into inception after the disastrous release of Battlefield 2042, the game which it is parodying. The parody was officially released on December 31, 2021. For a parody, a significant amount of effort has been put into this. The game has its own gameplay trailer on YouTube. Not only this, Clownfield 2042 has its own in-game plot and storyline.

Battlefield 2042 stands beaten by spoof

Clownfield 2042 is set in the aftermath of a cryptocurrency crisis in the year 2022. Around the world, countries, and governments are collapsing. As a result, a new faction known as the ‘No-Clowns’ has emerged.

Fans have to admit, this storyline is quite a bit too similar to Battlefield 2042.

The game is available on Steam for a low price of 50 Cents.

Adding on, the game’s reviews are quite impressive. It has accumulated a Very Positive review tag.

Battlefield 2042, on the other hand, does not have as much of a promising tale to tell. The game is on sale and can be purchased for $26.54. The game received extensive support and development time. The series has a rich history of being well received by fans. However, it turns out that this iteration can not uphold these standards. The game is available to purchase on Steam after a price cut from $40.

This series of events, as sad as it is quite hilarious. More importantly, it raises quite a few questions. Considering that no further support is available for 2042 until March, why did EA go ahead and release it in the first place? Why are there several key gameplay features present in previous Baleifleds not present in this one?

And most importantly, if an indie developer could make a decent enough game as a small project, why can’t an AAA studio such as DICE do the same?
