The exciting release from Avalanche Software is already on people’s wishlists. But Nintendo fans continue to receive mixed messages about the game’s fate on the handheld. YouTube channel SwitchForce elaborates.

Would Hogwarts Legacy see a native release on Nintendo Switch?

To say that Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most anticipated releases of 2022 would be an understatement. Potterheads have been on the lookout for an immersive gaming experience based in the magical world. But barring a few Android and iOS releases, they have been left high and dry. However, this is bound to change with the upcoming Portkey title. But while the world rejoices, Switch owners are stuck in limbo.

Zach from SwitchForce notes that Warner Bros.’ announcement about Hogwarts Legacy’s arrival on Switch was a pleasant surprise. Significantly, to experience all that the wizarding world offers in the palms of your hands is a pretty sweet feeling. But the fact that this was possible on a cartridge was the biggest revelation of them all. However, that hope now stands muddled.

But what’s the difference? Well, the Switch boasts both native and cloud game rendering. The first is self-explanatory, where users can simply plug in a cartridge and let the CPU and GPU go to work. But this depends on Switch’s ageing hardware capabilities.

Cloud streaming; however, does not tax the CPU and graphics horsepower of the console. It instead streams games directly over the internet, with the added caveat of a fluttering frame rate depending upon your connection.

As such, gamers who do not have access to blazing-fast internet would prefer to play the game natively. Zach claims“…a cloud-based Hogwarts Legacy on Switch, I think is many Mount Everests lower in terms of impressiveness and in terms of adoption.”
