Since the reveal of its early access period last week, Sledgehammer’s title has attracted mixed to negative reactions. Along with several outlets giving it lower scores, a lot of fans have been dejected too. IGN for example, gave it a 4/10, while GameSpot gave it 5/10.

Speaking of the reasons, they are unhappy with an extensive focus on the open combat missions. It appears the linear approach is what most of them are used to.

Then there’s the treatment given to the characters and their arcs. Maybe people were assuming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to be the last installment in the rebooted trilogy. On the flipside, the devs didn’t really go for it in the first place.

As a result, the events taking place in the Campaign are opposite to the players’ expectations. And some of them are also upset with the overall duration of the story. According to them, it’s too short even by the general standards of how a COD Campaign should be in length. Eventually, the wrath of fans is now coming out on the game – but the wrong game.

As one can see in the post, shared by a user on X, it looks like COD players have been dropping negative reviews for Modern Warfare 3 from 2011. Yes, it’s the classic title which is on the receiving end, since the last few days. User have posted unfavorable remarks on the Metacritic page of OG MW3 instead.
