The Nintendo Direct live stream finally happened yesterday. There were a ton of new announcements made by the company. One announcement that came as a surprise for many was from Mario’s creator, Shigeru Miyamoto.
The Mario creator shared details about a new “Super Mario Bros.” animated movie slated for release in the US next year. Voicing the iconic character will be none other than the beloved Star-Lord himself.

The upcoming movie will feature multiple well-known characters from the Mario universe. And Nintendo has managed to sign some influential names to voice these iconic characters. Here is the list of celebrities lending their voice:
- Mario — Chris Pratt
- Luigi — Charlie Day
- Peach — Anya Taylor-Joy
- Bowser — Jack Black
- Donkey Kong — Seth Rogen
- Toad — Keegan-Michael Key
- Cranky Kong — Fred Armisen

However, that is not all. According to Shigeru, Charles Martinet, the voice actor of Mario in video games since the 1990s, will additionally have a cameo role in the film. Moreover, Nintendo has joined hands with the animation house Illumination, appreciated for the Despicable Me films.

It will be exciting to see the plot of the upcoming Mario movie as well as getting to hear Chris Pratt and the others in a whole new avatar. Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic will be taking on the directing role for this movie. The duo has previously worked behind the Teen Titans Go! show and its movie, Teen Titans Go! To The Movies.
Everyone these days is looking to get a piece of the video game pie. There are several video game movies in the pipeline. The upcoming Borderlands film, Uncharted featuring Tom Holland, to name a few.

Apart from this, the 40-minute long Nintendo Direct event also gave us a trailer for Bayonetta 3. The game has been in development for a long time now and not much was known until now.
