In case anyone missed keeping track of events, Activision unveiled an upgraded version of its RICOCHET anti-cheat, a few days ago. While mentioning all the necessary details in an official blog, the makers informed that it’s become better and stronger now, ahead of the upcoming Season 3.

Starting with the new season, RICOCHET will be able to detect the usage of third-party devices used for cheating in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2. Simply put, it can detect the presence of banned hardware, such as Cronus, attached to a user’s system while playing the games. Such devices end up giving an unfair advantage to certain players.

After the Season 3 update, anyone found using banned hardware, as detected by RICOCHET anti-cheat, will first see a message on their screen. It will inform them about the potential action that could be taken against them if they continue using the suspicious device.

“Continued improper use of these devices may lead to additional warnings, the deployment of mitigations, account or feature suspensions, or the banning of the offending account across Call of Duty titles, per our Security and Enforcement Policy,” read the blog dedicated to the RICOCHET anti-cheat tool.

The blog also mentioned that the devs will keep an eye on “this new detection’s effectiveness and update our systems against further circumvention over time.”
