March 10 is popularly known among Esports communities as Mar10 Day. And who else is better than Mario’s voice actor to talk about the iconic character? Charles Martinet’s video was shared by Guinness World Records to commemorate the wonderful journey he took as the voice of Nintendo’s mascot. But did you know that Martinet’s introduction to being Mario was a result of an audition crashing?
Charles Martinet was an actor during his early days. According to him, typically people would contact him through his pager or his phone to talk to him about a supposed role. One time, a friend of Martinet rang him up to inform him about an audition for a real-time animation project. His friend asked him to crash the audition.
“There is absolutely no way I would ever crash an audition. I am a professional actor… Where do I go?” was the hilarious reply that Charles gave to his friend. He later went over to the audition address and approached the produced as he was exiting the premises.
