It seems like the gaming genius behind the likes of Street Fighter 6 and Resident Evil 4 Remake can currently do no wrong. The creators have announced a visionary successor of their infamous RE engine that’s been codenamed REX. The codename signifies the objective of the project, RE Next Generation. Thus, this upcoming engine will probably be taking the technological attributes of RE to the next level. 

Recently, Capcom’s R&D channel showcased a presentation addressing some challenging steps that can take gaming technology to the next level. Who would have thought it was all a build-up to the intriguing REX? All the capabilities of the previous RE Engine will be included in the REX Engine, along with support for new technologies and improved asset management to more effectively handle the increasing size of game assets.

The highly anticipated Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be allegedly the first game to use the upgraded REX Engine capabilities. This technology will be introduced in stages. However, fans are waiting for some more detailed information on the project.
