Capcom surprised fans on February 14 with a mysterious new page and hints of a massive new announcement. A tweet on their official Capcom USA Twitter handle reveals a cryptic website sporting nothing but a countdown timer that is counting down to the culmination of all the hype they have built up over the past week.

Fans waited with bated breath as the countdown finally reached the one-hour mark. Fan theories and speculation filled the internet as Capcom maintained their secretive stance regarding the reveal.

The community speculated they could finally be on the cusp of a new Street Fighter announcement. After all, 2022 marks the 35th anniversary of the series. With Capcom, even marking the milestone with a fresh logo for the Street Fighter 6 franchise. Their official celebration tweet read:

“Cheers to 35 years of epic fights, fireballs and iconic rivalries!”

Given how eagerly awaited Resident Evil Village’s DLC is, some fans likened the font of the counter with that used in the RE series to give themselves hope for a DLC reveal.

But then the wait was finally over.

Capcom has finally unveiled the much-awaited announcement, and it was certainly worth the wait. The Japanese video game developer has announced Street Fighter 6.
