TheXclusiveAce is a renowned content creator and gamer on YouTube. He keeps sharing tons of updates regarding COD and everything involved with its titles. A few days ago, he came up with a video to express his thoughts on Activision’s strict action towards various mod projects.

The YouTuber tried to explain some theories behind this sudden action of the Call of Duty publisher. And it seems like there could be something more than what meets the eye. Is Activision actually paving the way for a surprise announcement in the future?

Going by the first theory provided by TheXclusiveAce, there might be a Modern Warfare 2 map pack coming soon for MWII. One, that may feature most of the memorable maps from 2009’s blockbuster. That’s why the makers are perhaps trying to prevent people from playing the old games at the moment and they want them to get a nostalgic feeling by directly witnessing classic maps in the form of a bundle rather than diving into third-party mods.

The next theory, however, is quite an interesting one. It’s already known that Microsoft is trying hard to seal the deal with Activision in this year. And that may be the reason behind the publisher going after projects like SM2. Perhaps they are waiting for the acquisition to complete. Once it’s done, they will probably release all the old Call of Duty entries on the Xbox Game Pass, for the fans who want nostalgia. This might be a possibility as well, because doing this will also boost the number of subscribers for Microsoft’s service.

The last theory suggests that the devs at Activision may be working on a remastered collection. Seems like they want to offer the most popular old games in a better way. And thus, removing the competition in the form of mod projects could be the ideal decision to make sure the classics are only available from their side – not from fan-made clients.
