Call of Duty Warzone and the franchise as a whole is witnessing the time of its life with back-to-back blocker releases in Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Black Ops Cold War. In an investor meeting, Activision revealed the staggering milestones that the franchise has hit within a calendar year.

Over 200 million people have played Call Of Duty in 2020

The franchise has been on a spree, killing all its competition across all platforms in the year and earning over $3 billion in net booking for the year, which is highest in the franchise’s history. The game has seen an upward of 40% in sales and 80% in net booking, respectively.

The free-to-play battle royale Warzone also hit a significant milestone by surpassing an 85 million player count, making November its biggest month ever, while the entire year followed a similar story.

Speaking at the investor meeting, Activision Executive, Byron Beede talked about the news and the future of the franchise.

“The momentum over the last year across the Call of Duty ecosystem from free-to-play Warzone as well as post-launch support of Modern Warfare, and now to Black Ops Cold War has been incredible.”

He also talked about future content that will be added in the holiday season and what fans can expect from them. He further added, “This is the next great chapter in Black Ops with an amazing campaign, an all-new zombies experience and of course, high-octane multiplayer.

“Launch is only the beginning. We are focused on building a continuous pipeline featuring a tremendous amount of free, post-launch content and events across the franchise.”
