The next big update for Call of Duty Warzone is just around the corner. It will soon make its way for the players who were looking forward to enjoy the brand new map of Vondel. However, an unusual incident has left some of the gamers scratching their heads in disbelief.
Right before a new season, COD devs usually push out a lot of clips for promotional purposes. Their campaign for Season 4 has been no different. But a recent clip, now deleted, used by them to generate massive hype for Warzone’s Season 4 ended up revealing a slight cameo from an iconic map of Verdansk.
Did Call of Duty devs just confirm Verdansk’s return in Warzone’s future?

In case anyone missed the recent track of events, media outlet CharlieIntel recently shared a tweet. It mentioned that the makers somehow utilized old footage of Verdansk, from 2019’s Modern Warfare installment, ahead of Season 4’s debut. Yes, they should have featured Vondel but for some bizarre reason, the long-lost map was used in a very brief video.
For some bizarre reason, the Warzone Season 04 promo trailer today is using old footage from the Modern Warfare 2019 Season 6 trailer that mentions Verdansk. Verdansk is not returning, but Activision marketing has shown old footage. pic.twitter.com/ymkeawGRc3

Although the clip was deleted, someone else on Twitter managed to save it for sharing online. The account named Warzone Stats Tracker tweeted it while mentioning that the footage used was from Season 6 of Modern Warfare. Have a look at it below:

So what could be the reason behind the devs going for an odd choice of inserting Verdansk in a clip which was intended to promote Vondel map for Season 4? Was it a mistake or a mysterious tease?
Media outlet CharlieIntel did clarify, in its tweet above, that Verdansk is not returning whatsoever. But the website couldn’t explain exactly why Call of Duty’s team decided to share such a weird clip in the first place. It will be interesting to see how things shape up going forward.
