Call of Duty offered a brand new experience last year after the awaited release of Modern Warfare II. Warzone 2 made its anticipated debut while featuring a completely new gameplay mode. The latter was the subject of many rumors and leaks way before it was officially revealed. That’s because it shared lots of similarities with an already popular online title Escape From Tarkov.
This mode is called DMZ (short for Demilitarized Zone) which was finally rolled out by Call of Duty before the end of 2022. It arrived with the launch of Warzone 2 and acts like an extension of the battle royale. However, those who have already explored it inside-out, are not much impressed with how it has turned out to be; including top streamer Shroud himself.

Now it looks like his stance still hasn’t changed much for this mode in Call of Duty Warzone 2. While revealing his honest feelings for DMZ, in a recent Twitch stream, Shroud mentioned that, according to him, it has failed.

He explained that making cross-progression a priority has led to the mode’s downfall. Because that’s what the main focus has been when it comes to the latest CoD installments like MWII and Warzone 2.

“So, the problem with Call of Duty trying to make a DMZ survival extraction looter shooter bulls**t is that they’re still tying into that system. And, as long as they’re tying into that cross-progression system, it’ll always be bad. Always always always.”
