Since its anticipated debut in November 2022, Call of Duty Warzone 2 has been in the news for various reasons. While it’s been a popular battle royale, most of the fans have faced a lot of issues while diving into its world. However, the makers are leaving no stone unturned in making it as engaging as possible. So that all the users who are not enjoying it right now, will end up liking it going forward.
Considering that, Call of Duty will be rolling out the Season 2 update later this month. Previously, it was expected to arrive at the beginning of February. But then, the devs pushed it further. Talking about what it will offer, then there’s a lot to get hyped for. Especially for the lovers of Resurgence (from the original Warzone). They will be receiving a brand new map in Ashika Island. However, the introduction of this map might be more than what meets the eye. Especially when it comes to Modern Warfare II’s Campaign and its direct connection with Warzone 2, thanks to the upcoming season.

The developing team recently published a crucial blog while revealing more details about Ashika Island. Interestingly, though, the blog also indicates that this map has a direct connection with Modern Warfare II’s Campaign mode. How?
A particular section in the blog mentions that there’s a presence of Shadow Company on this island. The latter was led by Philip Graves in Call of Duty Modern Warfare II’s single-player story. He was the one who betrayed the Task Force 141 members.
Phillips was later shown to be dead but it was not properly confirmed in the game. Now here’s an excerpt from the blog that seemingly reveals his potential return in the near future:
“Recently intercepted communications suggest that elements of Shadow Company, under the leadership of [[REDACTED]], have taken control of the isle, seemingly on the hunt for members of the Konni Group. While the location appears abandoned, there are whispers on the wires of Konni Operators remaining active in this conflict zone.”

It also implies that the second year of Modern Warfare II might witness the comeback of the infamous villain. He turned out to be a very popular character last year as far as the Campaign is concerned. So his return will be an interesting addition to the twists that players will get to see in MWII’s 2023 DLC content. At least that seems to be the case right now, going by the blog details for Warzone 2′ new map.
